A pair of genuine Victorian garnet earrings. Two very well matched oval cut garnet gemstones with a combined weight of 1.60ct, set in rich 9ct yellow gold. Garnets derived their name from the Latin word “granatum” which means pomegranate and was believed to represent primordial fire.  These earrings are fitted with their original kidney wires, circa the 1880s. An original and understated pair of Victorian earrings.
