A fine quality Edwardian Tourmaline and Pearl brooch. The round cut tourmaline gemstone weights 80 points and is set in rich 15ct gold with milgrain detail to the edge, providing extra sparkle. Tourmaline is the alternate birthstone for October and was believed to be the artist’s gemstone, promoting creativity.
To each side of the gemstone are gold scrolls, which taper back to form a bar. Each scroll terminates with a split seed pearl final surrounded by a milgrain edge. In the centre of each double scroll is a floral motif studded with seven split-seed pearls. Floral motifs containing split pearls were very popular during this time and are indicative of the period.
A well-made and classic piece of fine antique jewellery.
