A gorgeous opal & emerald ring. Four fiery round-cut cabochon opals set in a cluster of 17 round-cut emerald gemstones. Each of these opals has a magical play of colour, so intense that it can even be seen in the photo which is unusual. Each round-cut emerald has a beautiful depth of colour and they work really well with the opals. A highly decorative Victorian tortoiseshell pique brooch. Pique was a technique that used gold and silver to inlaid a decorative pattern. It was first introduced in Italy during the 1600s but reached its heyday in the mid-1800s. The front of this tortoiseshell brooch is in perfect condition. However, there is a chip to the rim at the back of this brooch as can be seen in the photo. This chip cannot be seen from the front of the brooch when worn, however, there is a small crack visible.
